An evening stroll through the wikiforest and the path it makes
Somebody said something about Java and it's crappy IDE.
I looked up IDE on wikipedia. I chose the one meaning Integrated Development Environment.
I saw that the first IDE was part of the BASIC language, which was developed at Dartmouth College.
I saw that Dartmouth College was involved in a legal case, Dartmouth College v. Woodward that was precedent-setting.
I saw that it strengthens the Contract Clause which was originally created in part so that foreign investors in the US wouldn't be driven away by laws in favour of domestic debtors. I guess that's good, hm?
I saw that currently in some NY state cities, Fiscal Stability Authorities are in practice not following the clause. Though I'm not sure about the relevance of this under the Contract Clause, did someone just decide to add that on there 'cause they were mad?
In any case... Hasn't this been going on in all sorts of places? Haven't contracts by unions increasingly been rescinded, everywhere?
The workers get less benefits, worse conditions, somebody somewhere saves money. That's weird. Where is all that money going? The structure of the economy is changing. Must know more...eventually...
I see yet again, the same pattern, and that pattern is: people are getting less. As a little token of meaning, this article mentions that the police in Buffalo agreed to one-person vehicles, etc. "The control board has been encouraging unions to embrace changes that would produce recurring savings, including work-rule revisions, schedule revisions and reductions in the amount of paid time off that employees receive."
So why are these cities going bankrupt?
I guess the pattern of reduction of employee perks and salaries is a two-fold case. 1. Public employees: because of reduction of public funds (is this a temporary economic thing because something is changing so fast ie: population growth or "needed" services, amenities, tools and technologies being relatively expensive?) Is it in any way history repeating?) 2. Private employees: to benefit the corporations, so they can stay competitive, be bigger and make more money.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
